Men’s Volleyball Continues Win Streak with Sweep of Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn.– The 13th ranked men's volleyball team has now won four matches in a row after a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart Saturday night.
Junior Mitch Weiler led Ball State with 12 kills. Junior Matt Walsh knocked down nine kills while senior Brendan Surane tallied eight. Defensively, sophomore Adam Wessel had a team high seven digs. Weiler and freshman Matt Szews both added five. Walsh and Weiler both knocked down three block assists. Senior Connor Gross and junior Anthony Lebryk both added one block assist.
The Cardinals came out strong, winning the opening set with a final score of 25-18. Matt Walsh led the team in set one with four kills, one being the set winner. Mitch Weiler added three kills, two digs and one block assist. Ball State finished set one with a .417 attack percentage.
In the second set, Ball State edged out the Pioneers with a score of 25-22. The Cardinals knocked down 12 kills, and seven total blocks. Weiler led the team with four kills, one being the set winner.
Ball State took the match with a 25-22 victory in set three. In the final set, the Cardinals had 16 kills, led by Weiler's five.
The Ball State men's volleyball team moves to a 6-1 overall record with the victory. The Cardinals will be in action again on Thursday, Jan. 26 against George Mason in Muncie, Ind. The match against George Mason begins a five home match stretch.
