
Men's Tennis Sweeps Taylor In Doubleheader Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team defeated Taylor, 7-0, in its doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals improved to 10-10 overall while the Trojans drop to 6-10 for the year.
The Cardinals opened the day capturing the doubles point in both matches, staking themselves to 1-0 lead over Taylor. In the first match, Lucas Andersen paired up with Patrick Downs to clinch the doubles point over Alex Jung and Juan Ramirez by a score of 8-1 on court one. Patrick O'Connor alongside teammate Jan Jirus were the deciding match in the evening match, after the twosome posted an 8-3 victory over Jacob Scott and Jonathan Forte at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Ball State swept all 12 matches in straight sets. In the first match, Conner Andersen and Matt Helm did not give up a game against their respective opponents winning 6-0, 6-0. Patrick Downs also took down Chris Robbins in the night cap, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position.
The Ball State men's tennis team returns to Mid-American Conference action Friday at home against Buffalo with a 2:30 p.m. first serve.
