Ball State Men’s Tennis Falls Just Short in 4-3 Loss to Buffalo
March 28, 2026 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's tennis team suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Buffalo (11-6, 5-2 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at the First Serve Muncie Tennis Complex. Despite a resilient effort that pushed the match to the final courts, the Cardinals (9-9, 4-3 MAC) were unable to overcome the visiting Bulls.
The Cardinals dropped the doubles point after the Bulls claimed victories on the top two courts, cutting short a heated battle at the No. 3 slot featuring Nolan and Drew Hayward.
Ball State rallied as singles play began, with Andrei Caragea leveling the score at 1-1 via a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Onder Balci.
Buffalo briefly regained a 2-1 lead by taking court three, but Jeremy Milette responded for the Cardinals, defeating Minjae Kim 7-5, 6-1 to tie the match again. Senior Jacks Lancaster then surged past Theodoros Mitsakos on the top court, giving BSU its first lead at 3-2. However, Buffalo managed to answer one last time, sweeping the final two courts to steal the overall victory.
The Ball State men's tennis team will now play the remainder of its regular season on the road when it travels to Western Michigan on Thursday for a 1 pm first serve in Kalamazoo.
