
Men's Tennis Loses 6-1 Match To No. 56 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ball State men's tennis team lost, 6-1, at No. 56 Vanderbilt Sunday evening in the Currey Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-7 on the season while the Commodores improve to 8-8 this year.
The Vanderbilt twosome of Rhys Johnson and Cameron Klinger were the first doubles tandem off the court after taking down Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles. Baker Newman alongside Tate Allwardt clinched the match after 6-3 victory from Ball State's duo of Matt Helm and Patrick Downs on court three. Before the match was clinched, Conner Andersen and Tom Carney were winning 5-4 at the No. 2 doubles position over No. 76 Daniel Valent and Pen Binet.
In singles action, Vanderbilt took five of the six matches from Ball State. The lone winner for the Cardinals was Marko Guzina who earned a three set thriller over Baker Newman at No. 4 singles,6-4, 2-6, 1-0.
The Ball State men's tennis team begins Mid-American Conference action when it hosts Toledo Friday at 1 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center or Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.Team Stats
