
Men's Tennis Rallies For 4-3 Win Over Toledo

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (6-7, 1-0 MAC) came from behind after losing the doubles point, rallying to beat Toledo (7-10, 0-1 MAC), 4-3, in its Mid-American Conference opener Friday afternoon in the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Toledo claimed the doubles point, after the Rockets twosome of Stephen Miller and Stjepan Sisko defeated Ball State's No. 1 duo Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz, by a score of 6-4. The Rockets also earned a 6-4 victory over the Cardinals' Patrick Downs and Matt Helm on court three which clinched the point for Toledo. Conner Andersen and Tom Carney were up 5-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Downs opened singles play for the Cardinals with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat over Toledo's Reid Teatsorth on court six which tied the match, 1-1. Toledo would answer with victories at the No. 3 and No. 1 singles positions to give the Rockets the 3-1 advantage over Ball State.
The Cardinals then rallied back as Marko Guzina posted a 6-4, 7-5, win over Stephen Miller on court two. Conner Andersen's three set thriller over Omar Espinosa at the No. 4 singles position gave Ball State its third point. With the match tied, Stutz would clinch the win for the Cardinals on court two after his three set come from behind victory over Anzalone.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action when it hosts Northern Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
