A Look at the Cardinals
• Ball State takes a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division lead (tied with Toledo) into Tuesday's matchup at Miami. The Cardinals are coming off a 75-63 win at Central Michigan, handing the Chippewas only their third loss in their past 30 home games.
• Tuesday's meeting is the second of the season between Ball State and Miami. The Cardinals came from 16 points down in the second half for a 48-46 win Jan. 16 in Muncie.
• Ball State's 16-9 record is its best through 25 games since the 2001-02 season (17-8). The Cardinals' 7-5 league mark is its best through 12 games since 2010-11 (also 7-5). This is the latest in a season BSU has led the MAC West Division since the 2009-10 campaign.
• BSU ranks as the third-most improved team in the country in terms of its record from last year to this year. The Cardinals are 16-9 this year after going 7-23 a year ago. Only Tennessee State (5-26 to 18-7) and UALR (13-18 to 22-3) have made bigger turnarounds this year (source: NCAA).
• Ball State sits at No. 151 out of 351 Division I teams in the Ken Pomeroy rankings. The Cardinals have been as high as No. 144 this season, marking their highest rating since January 2012. BSU has not finished a season better than its current ranking since 2005 (No. 105).
• The Cardinals' 213 3-pointers this season already rank as the fourth most in program history. The team is on pace to finish the regular season with 264 treys, which would rank second behind only the 310 made by the 2001-02 team ... The Cardinals rank 32nd nationally at 38.4 percent from 3-point range.
Last Month versus Miami
• Ball State defeated Miami 48-46 in the season's first meeting between the teams Jan. 16 in Muncie.
• The Cardinals overcame a 16-point deficit in the second half and won the game on a Jeremiah Davis lay-in with 1.8 seconds left.
• Jeremie Tyler and Ryan Weber led Ball State with 10 points each, while Miami's Eric Washington led all players with 26 points.
• The Cardinals won despite matching their lowest shooting percentage of the season (36.4). They held Miami to 18 points on 5-for-18 shooting in the second half to come from behind.
Double-Double Man
• Senior forward Bo Calhoun has recorded six double-doubles this season, including four in conference play.
• Calhoun has posted double-doubles in two straight games, including a season-high 22 points and a career high-tying 14 rebounds Saturday at Central Michigan.
• In conference play, he leads Ball State with 11.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Freshman Shot Blockers
• Trey Moses leads Ball State with 24 blocked shots this season, including a career-high four versus IUPUI in December.
• He already ranks third on the Cardinals' list for blocks by a freshman, trailing only Lonnie Jones (52 in 1998-99) and Jarrod Jones (35 in 2008-09).
Road Success
• Ball State has won four of its past five road games and owns and 4-2 record away from home in conference play.
• The Cardinals are tied for the best road record in the league with Buffalo and Toledo (also 4-2).
• Ball State has reached four league road wins for the first time since the 2010-11 season.
• The Cardinals have not won five MAC road games in a season since the 2000-01 team went 7-2 away from home.
