Tournament runs Sunday through Tuesday at Warren Golf Club
LIVE SCORING
Following just a four-day break since the Firestone Invitational, the Ball State men's golf team returns to action Sunday at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana. The action begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m., and Ball State's first tee time is 10 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Ball State is coming off a seventh-place finish out of 16 teams at Firestone. The Cardinals opened that event with their best team round in four years, a 7-under par 281. Michael VanDeventer (T4th) and Johnny Watts (T8th) both finished in the top 10.
VanDeventer, coming off his best collegiate showing, occupies the top spot in the lineup this week. He will once again be joined by Watts, Michael Makris, Timothy Wiseman and Keegan McKinney. Colin Proctor will see his first action of the year as an individual.
VanDeventer has finished among the top 25 in his two previous starts at Notre Dame, including a tie for 17th last year. Makris tied for 14th two years ago.
In addition to Ball State and tournament host Notre Dame, this week's field also includes Butler, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Illinois State, IUPUI, Nevada, San Diego, Santa Clara, Seattle, Utah State, UTEP, William & Mary and Xavier.
Normally a par-71 layout, Warren Golf Course will play to a par 70 this week. The 18th hole has been converted to a par 3.
