A three-run sixth inning propelled the Ball State baseball team to a 4-3 Mid-American Conference victory over Toledo Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 25-15 overall and 10-6 in the MAC, while Toledo fell to 15-26 overall and 8-8 in league play.

Ball State will continue the series with Toledo Sunday with a double header starting at noon. Saturday's scheduled 1 p.m. game has been moved to Sunday due to impending weather conditions.

Zach Plesac pitched his third complete game in his last four starts and improved to 4-2 with the win. He allowed only two earned runs, while striking out seven, in the victory. Plesac has thrown three complete games in his last four starts and the other was an eight-inning performance.

Toledo started the scoring with one run in the second before Ball State tied it up with a score in the fourth. The Cardinals first run came on Alex Call's fourth home run of the season to lead off the fourth.

The Rockets took the lead back with one run in the sixth before the Cardinals rallied for three in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. Alex Maloney led off the sixth with a single through the left side of the infield and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Eppers. After Call walked to put runners on first and second, Maloney scored on an Elbert Devarie single to right field. Jarett Rindfleisch singled up the middle to score Call, and Caleb Stayton singled up the middle to score Devarie and give Ball State the 4-2 lead.

Toledo added one run in the ninth, but Plesac finished off the Rockets to earn the win.

Call was 1-for-3 in the game with one run-batted-in and two runs scored, while Devarie was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Maloney, Rindfleisch and Stayton were each 1-for-3 in the contest.

Ball State remains second in the MAC West Division, while division leader Central Michigan suffered a Friday defeat to Bowling Green to fall to 12-4 in the MAC West.
