Ball State's baseball team tallied a 5-2 victory at Eastern Michigan Friday and the teams will play a double header Saturday due to impending Sunday weather.

With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 24-12 overall and 9-4 in the Mid-American Conference, while Eastern Michigan fell to 14-24 overall and 4-9 in league play.

Ball State scored three runs in the top of the first and added two in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead in the contest. The Eagles rallied for one run in the eighth and one in the ninth, but the Cardinals earned the victory.

Zach Plesac pitched a complet game to earn the win and improve to 3-2 on the season. Plesac allowed only two runs, while striking out four and walking only one.

In the first inning, Alex Call opened the game with a single up the middle. Ryan Spaulding singled and Elbert Devarie followe with a single up the middle to score Call and give Ball State a 1-0 lead. Sean Kennedy's groundout scored Spaulding and Devarie later scored on a wild pitch to give Ball State a 3-0 lead.

The Cardinals added two more in the fourth when Matt Eppers opened the inning with a triple. Call's sacrifice fly scored Eppers and Ball State led 4-0. Devarie tripled down the right field line and scored on a Kennedy single to right to give Ball State the 5-0 advantage.

Call was 2-for-4 with one run-batted-in and one run scored. Devarie, who leads the team in hitting, was 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Kennedy added two hits and two RBI, while Eppers was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
