
Miami Downs Men's Swim 160-135

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team earned seven event wins Saturday afternoon over Mid-American Conference opponent Miami, but ultimately fell in a final score of 160-135. The Cardinals marked an event sweep in the 200 IM in the process of clenching 21 top-three finishes.
Senior Joseph Morris clocked a first place finish in all three of his events, including the 100 breast (57.01) and 200 breast (2:06.38), and rounded out the day's events by cinching the 200 free relay in a 1:24.88 fashion after combining with Cole Smith, Austin Green, and Logan Kisinger.
Sophomore Tanner Barton turned in two first place finishes of his own, including the 100 and 200 fly with 51.95 and 1:54.50 times, respectively. Barton rounded out his events against Miami with a fifth place finish in the 200 free relay at 1:32.83 with teammates Aaron O'Neil, Zach Toman, and Bradley Ridge. O'Neil also grabbed an individual first place finish in the 500 freestyle when he touched the wall at 4:49.71.
The final Cardinal event win came when freshman Tom Cross cinched the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.51. Ball State went on to sweep the event when fellow freshmen Nate Slack and Jeremy Taylor followed up with times of 2:03.68 and 2:04.13, respectively, to take second and third.
In diving action, freshman Tyler Nock set a new career best on the one-meter dive with a score of 263.84. Nock also went on to turn in a 243.89 on the three-meter.
Today's meet marked the end of regular season action for the Ball State men's swimming and diving team. The Cardinals will be back in action Mar. 4 -7 when they compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
