Edon Sisters Lead XC To Third At Ohio Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio - - Senior twin sisters Courtney Edon and Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the Ball State cross country team to a third-place showing at Friday's Ohio Invitational.
For the second consecutive weekend, Courtney Edon led Ball State's runners to the finish line, placing seventh overall in the 6K race with a time of 23:10.26. Her twin sister Caitlynn Edon followed close being, bringing home 12th with a time of 23:51.73.
Overall, Ball State's five scored runners combined for 78 points to take third among the four-team field with an average time of 24:30.88. Mid-American Conference rivals Miami and Ohio earned the top two spots, with the RedHawks edging out the host Bobcats by one point (30 to 31). West Virginia Wesleyan rounded out the field with a team score of 107.
Freshman Jessica Bryzek (Brownsburg, Ind./Indiana Academy) turned in another solid performance in her first collegiate 6K race, placing third among Ball State's scored runners and 18th overall with a career-fast time of 24:33.12.
Sophomores Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) and Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) rounded out the Cardinals' scored runners, placing 29th (25:24.07) and 31st (25:35.22), respectively.
The Ball State cross country team returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 13), when it travels to Oxford, Ohio, for the Miami Invitational which is slated for a 9:30 a.m. start.
