Field Hockey Drops to No. 23 Louisville, 5-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Ball State field hockey team fell to No. 23 Louisville 5-0 at Trager Stadium Monday, Sep. 3. Ball State moves to 1-3 on the season while Louisville improves to 3-1.
"Louisville did a nice job today," said head coach Beth Maddox. "They attacked us from the beginning and we couldn't keep up. We learned some things and made progress in the second half. We are hoping to work on some key elements this week and get ready for Longwood."
Ball State was outshot by Louisville 22-3, including get shots on goal (19-3). Louisville also held the advantage in penalty corners, 8-4. Ball State made 14 saves to Louisville's three.
Maddi Elliot (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) and Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) once again split up duties in goal. Elliott made nine saves in the first half, while allowing four goals. Henley only let Louisville connect on one goal, while making five saves.
Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam), Bethany Han (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) were all able to get a shot on goal, but were unable to score for the Cardinals.
Louisville was led by Amber Thomas who scored two goals. Erin Schneidtmiller, Becca Maddock and Michelle Amon all connected for Louisville.
