EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Despite wins in five events, the Ball State men's swimming and diving team suffered a 158-130 setback at Evansville's in a dual meet Sunday afternoon as the Cardinals fell to Eastern Illinois 103-102 at Evansville's Roy and Mary Wyttenbach Pool.
Two different BSU swimmers collected a pair of individual event victories in seniors Gavin McNeeley (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) in the 100 breast (59.27) and 200 breast (2:11.84) and Casey Schroeder (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger Memorial) in the 50 free (21.70) and 100 free (47.50).
McNeeley also swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay which clocked in at 1:35.44, while Schroeder swam the final leg.
Junior Michael Weber (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) took home a victory in the 100 back with a time of 52.46. He also swam the first leg of the 200 medley relay.
Sophomore Jake Brehmer (Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton) rounded out the Cardinals' top finishers on the one-meter board (229.10).
Ball State opens its home schedule next weekend at Lewellen Aquatic Center with a contest versus Milwaukee-Wisconsin Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
