
Cross Country Places 38th At Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - In its first 6K race of the season, the Ball State cross country team placed 38th in the Women's Blue Race at the 2010 Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
The Cardinals finished the meet with 1093 points, while Florida State won the meet with 115. Rounding out the top five were Arizona (128), Iowa State (175), Providence (231) and Texas (233).
Senior Ali Bishel paved the way for the Cardinals, placing 111th out of the 257 scored runners with a time of 21:47.9.
Also scoring for the Cardinals were redshirt sophomore Madeline Goheen (239th / 23:23.6), fifth-year senior Kelsey Nielsen (242nd / 23:24.0), sophomore MaryKate Mellen (249th / 24:02.0) and redshirt sophomore Christine Talhelm (252nd / 24:18.4).
Rounding out BSU's competitors in the meet were freshman Tiffany Cange (253rd / 24:48.6) and fifth-year senior Brittany Ade (255th / 24:55.7).
The Ball State cross country team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 30th, when they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championships.
