BUFFALO, N.Y. - - The Ball State (4-19, 3-8 MAC) men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack with four players in double figures to pick up a 76-67 Mid-American Conference victory at Buffalo's (8-15, 2-9 MAC) Alumni Arena Wednesday evening.

"Tonight was a tremendous team effort under some trying circumstances," said first-year BSU head coach Billy Taylor, whose Cardinals arrived in Buffalo Wednesday afternoon after weather conditions delayed travel. "I am very proud of these guys. They deserve to win a game like this and everyone contributed tonight.
Stovall, who last week was named one of 10 national finalists for the prestigious Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, quickly ignited the Cardinals in the first half with 11 points.
Newell and Stovall combined for the offense for much of the first 20 minutes, while Lampley slashed his way to the free throw line and converted en route to his career-high in points.
After leading 40-29 at the break and shooting 59 percent in the first half, the Cardinals answered a home team run on two occasions in the second half. A late three from Melvin Goins sniffled the Bulls' attack, while Newell led the rebounding charge to secure the win.
Ball State ended the game shooting 57 percent from the floor, including 40 percent from three-point range.
"We've been really focusing on sharing the basketball and running good offense," Taylor said. "We had 15 assists on 24 buckets tonight with nice balance."
The Cardinals were scheduled to leave Muncie Tuesday afternoon, but the winter storm that hit the area forced travel to be delayed until Wednsday morning. The team traveled by bus to Fort Wayne before flying to Buffalo and arriving Wednesday afternoon, just hours before the 7 p.m. tip.
Ball State returns to action with a 2 p.m. contest Sunday vs. Toledo at Worthen Arena. The game is the second-to-last home game for the Cardinals this season, prior to hosting Northern Illinois March 4.
