For her role in guiding the Ball State women’s volleyball team to the GBD Invite title, freshman setter Megan Wielonski has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Wielonski made her collegiate debut a memorable one, setting the Ball State offense to a .270 rate of success and guiding the Cardinals to a 4-0 record and the GBD Invite title.
She led Ball State to at least a .200 attacking percentage in each of the four matches, including a .476 mark in the sweep of St. Thomas, which was the third-best single match team performance in program history.
In addition to her solid setting, in which she averaged 9.43 assists per set, she also led the Cardinals with nine service aces, including a career-high five vs. UNI. Her stat line on the weekend also included 21 digs and 10 total blocks.
The Ball State women's volleyball team returns to action Friday (Sept. 3), when it opens play in the TRU By Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational with a 7 p.m. showdown versus tournament host Wright State.
