For her part in leading Ball State gymnastics to a program record team score of 196.325 in last Sunday’s win over Eastern Michigan, sophomore all-arounder Hannah Ruthberg has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Ruthberg’s all-around score of 39.200 was the second-best of her career and ranks as the 10th-best in program history. She started the day with a 9.700 on vault, before crushing her bars routine by tying her career-best score of 9.850.
She followed with another solid performance on beam, landing a 9.775. Then, she closed out Ball State’s scored competitors on floor with a season-best routine of 9.875 which ties as the Cardinals’ second-best floor routine of the season.
As the last BSU gymnast to compete in the event, Ruthberg’s floor mark raised BSU’s final score from 196.250 to 196.325.
Ruthberg and the Ball State gymnastics team return to action Friday, when it travels to Northern Illinois for a 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT league dual.
