Ryne Hillenberg is the senior associate athletics director for compliance and student-athlete development at Ball State and serves on the director of athletics' executive staff. As the senior athletics compliance officer, he oversees NCAA, Mid-American Conference and University compliance matters for the department and supports the holistic development of student-athletes. He also is a sport supervisor for field hockey, men's & women's swimming & diving, and men's volleyball programs.
Hillenberg, a 2008 Ball State graduate, completed a graduate assistantship and received a master’s degree from Purdue University, Fort Wayne in 2010 before starting his professional career at Texas A&M University, as compliance coordinator, from 2010-13. Next, he continued at the University of Kentucky as director of compliance from 2013-16 and most recently served at Indiana University as director of compliance for eligibility from 2016-19.
Hillenberg has served as a part of many committees including current roles with the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, NAAC Education Committee, the MAC Student-Athlete Development Committee, the MIVA Executive Council as well as Professional Personnel Council and University Senate through Ball State University.
Ryne and his wife Lara have two children and a goldendoodle, and reside in Muncie.
