MUNCIE, Ind. -- With two events remaining prior to hosting the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track Championships, May 14-16, the Ball State track team takes part in three days of competition this week at the University Louisville, in the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational.
Action gets underway Thursday with multi-event activity in the heptathlon, with Ball State's Kendra Keesling and Kenli Nettles beginning a series of seven events. For Nettles it is a warm-up for the upcoming MAC Championships, in which she is the league's defending champion. Keesling joins her teammate in the first multi-event competition of the outdoor season.
Over 50 schools from various divisions will participate in the event at Owlsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park. Friday's slate of events includes the javelin and long jump among field events. The high jump and triple jump both are scheduled for Saturday. A full slate of track events is scheduled both Friday and Saturday. Outside of the javelin, Ball State will not participate in throwing events this week.
