Track Team Split Between Meets at Wake Forest and Indiana State This Week

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State track athletes are split between a pair of meets this week, sending distance runners to the Wake Forest Invitational in North Carolina, and entering the bulk of the team's lineup in the Indiana State Gibson Invitational, Friday and Saturday.
Competition begins Thursday evening with freshman Emily Decker navigating a new event for the current Ball State team, participating in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:15 p.m. Senior distance specialist Carly Spletzer runs the 10,000 meters under the lights at 10 p.m. The Cardinals' distance squad continues competition on Friday in Winston-Salem with Sarah Mahnensmith and Kaitlyn Kauppila both racing in the 1,500-meter run.
Also Friday, action begins in Terre Haute, with Cardinals competing in a pair of afternoon events, prior to a full slate on Saturday. In Friday's competition, throwers Sydney Miller, Malena Higgins and Ayla Rice will take part in the hammer throw, followed by Maci Easton in the javelin throw.
