Men’s Tennis Set to Open MAC Play on the Road at Toledo and Buffalo

MUNCIE, Ind. - Coming off a dominant conclusion to their spring break trip, the Ball State men's tennis team is set to open Mid-American Conference (MAC) play this weekend with a two-match road swing against Toledo and Buffalo.
The Cardinals (5-6) will first travel to Toledo to face the Rockets on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. ET. Following the opener, the team will head further east to take on the Buffalo Bulls on Sunday, March 8, also for a 1 pm ET first serve
Ball State enters conference play with momentum following a 6-1 victory over Villanova in La Jolla, California which saw the Cardinals' No. 1 doubles duo of Jacks Lancaster and Drew Hayward earn MAC weekly honors.
The Rockets (6-6) host the Cardinals at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. Toledo and Ball State have shared a competitive history, including a split season series in 2025. Since 2000, Ball State holds an impressive 25-11 series lead over Toledo. The rivalry has been highly competitive in recent years, with several matches decided by a single point.
The Bulls (6-4) have shown strong home form this season with a 7-0 sweep of Binghamton. This match serves as a rematch of the 2025 MAC Tournament semifinal. The series has been perfectly even over the last 10 matchups (5–5) between the Cardinals and the Bulls.
Following this weekend's action, the Cardinals will return to Muncie for their MAC home opener against UIC on Thursday, March 12.
