Ball State Completes Final Day at TCU Alumni Invite

FORT WORTH, Texas --Laya'Lapri Ratney finished in fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles, and Ball State logged three different seventh-place finishes on Saturday, to lead the Cardinals on the final day of competition at the TCU Alumni Invite.
Ratney, the Mid-American Conference indoor champion two weeks ago in the 60-meter hurdles, finished the race in a personal-record of 13.71 seconds and recorded the Cardinals' fourth top-five finish of the meet. Ball State high jumpers Nina Garner and Malina Miller notched a first- and second-place finishes in Friday's opening event, with Bella Jackson right behind them in fifth.
Early in the day, in the 4x100 meter relay, Lauren Graham anchored the Cardinals' team that finished ahead of Grambling at the finish line. Jiah Davenport opened the race for Ball State, handing the baton to Amina Hadziahmetovic, then Savannah Lake and Graham for a finish of 48.27 seconds.
Kenli Nettles led three Ball State long jumpers with a seventh-place distance of 5.82 meters.
Ball State finished the day with another seventh-place relay finish, this time in the 4x400 meter relay. Hadziahmetovic ran her second relay leg to lead off the Cardinals' unit, before handing to Paige Kirtz and Abby Brennan. Kenli Nettles ran the anchor leg as Ball State finished the 1,600-meter race in 3:54.05 second, behind invitational host and sixth-place TCU.
The Cardinals return to the Midwest for a split week with distance runners at Washington University in St. Louis, and a second track unit competing in a two-day meet at Eastern Illinois.
