Kirtz Wins 400 Meters While Cardinals Battle Conditions at Jesse Owens Invitational
May 04, 2025 | Track & Field
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Battling rough weather conditions at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday, the Ball State track team concluded its regular season, prior to taking part in the Mid-American Conference Championships, May 15-17.
By late in the day on Saturday, after multiple weather delays, competitors in several events did not start (DNS) due to less-than-ideal conditions.
Ball State's biggest highlight was Saturday's 400 meters race that was won by the Cardinals' sophomore Paige Kirtz (58.37) whose first-place finish was the best of her collegiate career. Ball State's other top-five finish was Kenli Nettles'Â (14.53) third-place result in the 100-meter hurdles. Lexi Hale's 1.65m jump in the high jump matched her personal best, despite adverse conditions.
The Cardinals prep this week in advance of the MAC Outdoor Championships, in Athens, Ohio, beginning Thursday, May 15.
