Women's Golf Set To Host MAC Championships April 20-22

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's golf program is exited to welcome the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships to Muncie, as the Cardinals host the 10-team event April 20-22 at the Delaware Country Club.

It will be the first-ever appearance for the MAC Women's Golf Championships at the Delaware Country Club and the first time the event has been hosted in the state of Indiana since the 2019 event was held at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville. DCC has served as host for both the 1981 and 1989 MAC Men's Golf Championships.

"It's been fun, a little stressful, but we have a great team in terms of the people helping us run the tournament," head coach Cameron Andry said about preparing to host the MAC Championships. "It's been a fun process planning things out, and the guys at Delaware have been fantastic to work with, we're excited to get going."

Following a practice round Saturday, the Cardinals head out on the course in the final five pairings of Sunday's first round with tee times starting at Noon and following every 10 minutes until 12:40. As the number three seed in the tournament, the Cardinals will be paired with No. 1 Kent State and No. 2 Eastern Michigan.

Action in the first two rounds, Sunday and Monday, is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. with shotgun starts off the first hole. Tuesday's final round will feature a split tee start with the top six teams teeing off in threesomes off the first tee beginning at 9 a.m. and the final four teams teeing off in pairs on the tenth tee starting at 9:30 a.m.

Set to represent the Cardinals in the MAC Championships are junior Jasmine Driscoll, freshman Sophie Korthuijs, junior Sarah Gallagher, senior Sabrina Langerak, sophomore JJ Gregston and sophomore Jenne Estravillo.

Four of the six student-athletes listed above (Gallagher, Driscoll, Langerak and Gregston) competed at last season's MAC Championships hosted by Ohio, helping the Cardinals place fourth among the 10-team field for its best finish and lowest team score (939, +75) since the 2019 league event.Â

Leading the way was Gallagher who placed fourth overall at +9 (225). It was Ball State's best individual effort at the MAC Championships since Jenna Hague tied for fourth in 2013 and the best individual score at the league meet since Hadley Moritz carded a +8 (224) in 2019. For her play, Gallagher was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.

Overall, 50 players from all 10 league teams will be in action at the Delaware Country Club, starting with Saturday's practice round.

- In fact, five of the returners - Jasmine Driscoll, JJ Gregston, Sarah Gallagher, Madelyn Young and Madelin Boyd - helped the Cardinals break the lowest 36-hole total for the third time in the last two seasons by combining for a 579 (+3) over the opening two rounds of the 2024 Brittany Kelly Classic … The previous 36-hole record was 580 (+4) set at the Diamante Intercollegiate (Oct. 22-24, 2024), just ahead of the 584 (+8) set at the 2023 Brittany Kelly Classic (Sept. 18-19, 2023).
