
Cardinals Ready for MAC Indoor Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State track and field enters the post season Friday (Feb. 28) at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Competition will go through Saturday (Mar. 1) and will end with the naming of the 2025 Indoor MAC Champions.Â

Last time out:Â
Most recently, the Cardinals sent groups to the GVSU Big Meet (Feb. 14-15) in Allendale, Michigan and the Windy City Invite (Feb. 14-15) in Chicago, Illinois. There were a couple top performances at the GVSU Big Meet, including Carly Spletzer's third place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a personal best time of 17:02.78, and Brenna Lehrke's winning triple jump personal best mark of 11.74 meters.Â
In Chicago, Jenna Oriani had an excellent 400-meter race, winning the event and moving into the second fastest time in Ball State indoor history. Jenelle Rogers also had a strong meet, finishing second in the long jump invite with a mark of 6.10-meters.Â
Championship History:Â
Last year, Ball State finished third at the indoor championship with 61.50 points. Eastern Michigan won with 144.5 points, followed by Kent State with 85.5 points.Â
The Cardinals' last won a MAC Championship title in the 2023 outdoor season.Â

Following MAC, the Cardinals will prepare for the possibility of the NCAA Indoor Championships. Rogers is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA from her 4188-point pentathlon performance at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite (Jan. 31). The top 16 athletes from each event qualify and with her current standing, Rogers will look to return to the championships for the second year in a row. The 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships will take place Mar. 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.Â
