
Slater Named MVC Men's Swimmer of the Week

ST. LOUIS – After picking up two distance freestyle wins this past weekend at UIC (Oct. 24), junior Malcolm Slater has earned the honor of the Missouri Valley Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Against the Flames, Slater took top placements in the 500 (4:37.98) and 1000 (9:36.66) freestyles. In the conference, his 500 and 1000 times rank sixth and fifth, respectively. The junior also posted a time of 2:05.02 in the 200 individual medley, placing seventh. Slater's efforts helped the Cardinals end the evening with a 186-112 victory over the MVC foes.
With this week's honor, Slater earns the first weekly conference award of his collegiate career.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving program returns home to the Lewellen Aquatic Center Nov. 8, joining the women to host Bellarmine. Events begin at 1 p.m. ET.
