
Women's S&D Prepare For Competition at Akron

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's swimming and diving program gets its final taste of #MACtion dual competition Friday evening when it hits the road to take on three-time defending league champion Akron. The meet takes place at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium at 5 p.m.Â
Junior Payton Kelly dominated the sprint freestyle events in the Cardinals' last dual outing against Akron during the 2022-23 season, finishing first in the 50 (23.57), 100 (51.47) and 200 (1:52.48). Kelly also joined senior Gracey Payne as she swam anchor for the winning 400 freestyle relay team (3:27.48).  Â
Graduate student Laura Wright took the top prize that afternoon in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.18) after she and senior Hannah Jones opened the meet with a first-place finish as members of the 200 medley relay team (1:44.43). Â
