Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Play at Notre Dame Friday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team will open its 2025 spring season Friday when it plays at Notre Dame. First serve is scheduled for 3 pm ET at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The Cardinals are coached by Sachin Kirtane who is entering his second season at the helm of Ball State. BSU returns six players from last season's squad, Ella Hazelbaker, Sydney Hrehor, Elena Malykh, Annika Planinsek, Sarah Shahbaz and Isabel Tanjuatco. The Cardinals also welcome three newcomers, Alana Bristow, Chloe Brown and Jemima Williams-Phillips.
Ball State and Notre Dame last met on May 5, 2023, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Cardinals dropped that match by a 4-0 decision. Planinsek, Hazelbaker and Malykh were all on that squad.
The Cardinals and the Fighting Irish first met on Sept. 24, 1977, in Muncie resulting in a 6-3 loss for Ball State. This will be the ninth meeting all-time between Ball State and Notre Dame with the Fighting Irish leading the all-time series record 8-0.
