MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team returns to Mid-American Conference action when it hosts rival Miami Friday at the Briner Sports Complex. The game is slated to begin at 3 pm ET. The Cardinals are set to welcome Big Ten foe Michigan State on Sunday at 1 pm ET.
Â
The Cardinals (1-5, 0-1 MAC) are looking to get back on the winning track against the RedHawks (4-4, 1-1 MAC) after dropping their last three contests. Currently, Miami is looking for its second-straight league victory after defeating Bellarmine last Sunday by a score of 6-1 in Louisville, Ky.
Â
Overall, Friday's contest will mark the 78th meeting all-time between the Cardinals and the RedHawks, with Miami leading the all-time series 52-25. Ball State will look to snap a 21-game losing streak to the seven-time defending MAC regular season champions.Â
Â
On Sunday, Ball State will face Michigan State (4-4, 0-2) in Muncie. The last time the Cardinals hosted the Spartans was on Oct. 9, 2022, which ended in a 5-3 loss for BSU. Ball State's last win over Michigan State came on the road on Oct. 2, 2016, after the Cardinals defeated the Spartans by a score of 3-2.Â
Â
After this weekend, the Ball State field hockey team will remain home when it hosts Longwood on Friday, October 4 at noon.Â
Â
Marketing Note:Â In a show of unity by Ball State's fall women's sports teams, Cardinals' field hockey, soccer and volleyball teams will welcome fans this week for Women's Empowerment Weekend during events at Worthen Arena and the Briner Sports Complex.
Â
Partnering with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Muncie Mission, donations of women's products will be collected at entry points at both venues throughout each event. Muncie Mission will collect donations for distribution as part of its ministry work with homeless shelters, and addiction and recovery centers.
Â
Ball State Athletics thanks its fans, in advance, for their generosity in supporting Women's Empowerment and supporting the work done locally by Muncie Mission.
