
Field Hockey Suffers 3-0 Setback to Rival Miami

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (1-6, 0-2 MAC) suffered its second Mid-American Conference loss this season to the Miami RedHawks (5-4, 2-1 MAC) Friday afternoon by a score of 3-0.
Ball State trailed by two at the half after goals from Miami's Garcia C. Negrete and Becca Lawn.
The RedHawks tacked on one more score in the final stanza to make it a 3-0 ball game. Miami also drew eight penalty corners to the Cardinals' one which helped the RedHawks seal today's victory.
The Cardinals defense still shined despite the loss which included defensive saves from Emma Hilton and Emma van Hal.
In goal was Hannah Johnston, as the graduate senior reached double digit saves with 10 bringing her career total to 406.
The Ball State field hockey team remains home Sunday when it welcomes Big Ten foe Michigan State to the Briner Sports Complex. The game is slated to begin at 1 pm ET.
