Field Hockey Suffers 2-0 Setback at Big Ten foe Indiana Friday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (1-3) suffered a 2-0 setback at Indiana (2-3) Friday afternoon at Deborah Tobias Field.

The Cardinals and the Hoosiers were stingy on defense in the first half, especially Ball State as it fended off a total of nine shot attempts to keep it a scoreless ball game at intermission.

After the break, only 1:19 would be shaved off the clock before Indiana's Sydney Keld finally got the Hoosiers on the board. Ball State held Indiana scoreless the remainder of the quarter, but the Hoosiers would increase their lead 2-0 over the Cardinals at the 49:21 mark of the fourth stanza.

Throughout the entirety of today's contest Ball State struggled on offense despite its efforts as the Cardinals only drew two penalty corners in 60-minutes of action while totaling three shots.

Defensively, Hannah Johnston turned out one of her best performances of the season with 13 saves.

The Ball State field hockey team will open Mid-American Conference action on the road next Friday at Kent State. The contest is set to begin at 2 pm ET in Dix Stadium.
