Men's Swimming & Diving Places 14 on Final Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving program placed 14 student-athletes on the 2023-24 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced by the league office Wednesday (April 17).

Of Ball State's 14 honorees, graduate students Noah Berryman and Bryce Handshoe will finish their Ball State careers as four-time award winners after returning for their COVID-19 year of eligibility.

Senior diver Isacc Hunter earns the honor for a third time, while five swimmers earn the award for a second time: junior Michael Burns, senior Alexander Eddy, senior Joey Garberick, senior Michael Mitsynskyy and junior Ethan Pheifer.

Ball State also had six first-time award winners in sophomores Logan Ayres, Benjamin Clarkston, Bryan Lower, Kenny Reed, Jacob Siewers and Mason Young.

A total of 77 student-athletes earned a spot in the final Academic All-MAC list, as the teams will transition to the Missouri Valley Conference next season. The honor is awarded to swimmers and divers who maintain at least a 3.2 GPA and participate in at least half of the team's contests for the season.Â

First-year students and any college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
