Softball Sweeps Senior Day Doubleheader Against Bowling Green
April 13, 2024 | Softball
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Sophomore Ashlee Lovett set the tone early Saturday, opening both games of Ball State softball's doubleheader versus Bowling Green with singles to right field.
Â
Redshirt junior catcher McKayla Timmons followed suit, following Lovett's lead with two-run home runs in each contest to help the Cardinals (19-21; 6-8 Mid-American Conference) pick up a pair of pivotal league wins over the Falcons (5-24; 2-11 MAC) at the Softball Field at First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
Â
Their effort helped Ball State celebrate its 10-member senior class with a 7-1 win in the opener and a 10-0 (5) victory in the nightcap.
Â
Just as impressive were the performances from Ball State's senior pitchers, starting with Francys King who picked up the complete game victory in the opener. Over her 7.0 innings of work, she limited the Falcons to six hits and one run, while striking out four batters.
Â
The second game saw senior Alyssa Stramaglia dominate over her four innings of work, limiting BGSU to just one hit while adding a strikeout of her own to pick up her first win of the season. Senior Emma Eubank closed the contest, retiring all three batters she faced in the fifth, including a pair of strikeouts.
Â
Overall, all 10 seniors who were honored on the day made an impact over the two games.
