Softball Suffers 6-0 Sunday Setback at EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. - - The Ball State softball team closed play in the EKU Colonel Classic with a 6-0 loss to host Eastern Kentucky Sunday afternoon at Gertrude Hood Field.

After picking up a pair of Saturday wins in the tournament, the Cardinals (8-11) were never able to get into an offensive rhythm versus the Colonels (14-4), being limited to just a pair of hits.

The first was a third inning single through the left side by redshirt sophomore shortstop McKenna Mulholland. The second was a fifth-inning single down the first base line by senior center fielder Remington Ross.

Unfortunately, EKU tallied a single run in the first, two in the second and three in the third to win the game.

In a solid relief appearance, sophomore Bridie Murphy threw the final 3.2 innings for Ball State, limiting the Colonels to two hits and three walks, while striking out two.
