Mickey Pearson Jr. has been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
The redshirt junior forward from Lincoln, Ala., started each of the 29 games he played in during the 2023-24 season while tallying career bests in scoring (12.2 points per game), assists (24), 3-point shooting (42 makes and 35.9 percent) and free throw shooting (85.3 percent) while averaging 5.1 rebounds per contests.
In order to qualify for the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, be in at least their second year as a college student-athlete and play in 90 percent of their team's games or start in 66 percent.
Pearson Jr. is a sociology major and academic senior. The transfer from TCU just finished his third season at Ball State with highlight performances and setting new career highs in points in wins over USC Upstate (24 points on Nov. 21) and at Central Michigan (25 points on Feb. 27).
Pearson Jr. scored in double figures in 21 games with a pair of double-doubles and led the team in rebounding in five games.
