Outdoor Season Continues at Margaret Simmons Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Cardinals continue their outdoor season heading south as they travel to Murray, Kentucky for the Murray State University's Margaret Simmons Invitational. Field events are scheduled to start on Friday, March 22 with the hammer throw at 1:00 p.m. ET and running events will begin at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Last weekend the team opened its outdoor season in the sunshine state for the University of Tampa's Alumni Invitational. The Cardinals had a promising start, collecting multiple top ten finishes.
Alana Springer was a strong competitor for the Cardinals, finishing eight in the 200m dash with a time of 23.93. She also ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay, helping the team earn a sixth-place finish with a collective time of 45.10.
In the 100m dash, Makayla Sumrall ran a competitive race and crossed the line with a time of 11.69. Her efforts were good for a seventh-place finish.
The team will seek more success heading into the weekend.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals will be represented at two meets the weekend of March 28-30, including the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
