No. 12 Men’s Volleyball Extends MIVA Win Streak to Five with Sweep over the Royals

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's volleyball team returned home in exciting fashion for its fans as the Cardinals dominated play against the Queens University of Charlotte Royals Friday night in Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals (13-7, 6-1 MIVA) earned their third-straight 3-0 sweep over a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) opponent with their win over the Royals (6-12, 2-7 MIVA).
Although not the greatest offensive performance by Ball State, the Cardinals placed only one player in double-digit kills which was led by Tinaishe Ndavazocheva with 14. BSU's serve game was strong with seven aces and defensively as a team the Cardinals combined for 10 team blocks.
The closest set of the contest was the first frame which saw 10 ties and three lead changes. The first set was tied for the last time at 11-11 that's when Ndavazocheva nailed a kill which motivated the Cardinals to eventually take a 13-11 edge over the Royals. After that, Ball State continued to dominate the remainder of the opening stanza and would take set one, 25-22.
Ball State cruised past Queens University of Charlotte by a score of 25-15 in tonight's second period as the Cardinals were warming up on both offense and defense.
The third and final set allowed the Royals to give the Cardinals a run for their money as Queens University of Charlotte kept the score close. Ball State began to pull away late in the frame (19-13) after another Ndavazocheva kill. The Cardinals carried their momentum the remainder of the way taking the third set 25-16 and was able to seal tonight's victory.
