12th-Ranked Cardinals Register Sixth Straight MIVA Victory

MUNCIE, Ind. – Patrick Rogers had 12 kills, two aces and six on Sunday afternoon to pace the Ball State Cardinals to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 straight-sets win over Queens University of Charlotte. Braydon Savitski-Lynde had nine kills and five digs as Ball State won its sixth straight match in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
During their six-match win streak, the 12th-ranked Cardinals have won nine straight games with three consecutive 3-0 shutouts. Four of their past five wins have been recorded with 3-0 shutouts.
The Royals managed brief leads during early points in each of the first two sets Sunday, but Ball State scored six straight points in the third set to command an 11-2 lead and coast to the win. Rogers had a pair of kills in that six-point streak, sandwiched around four straight attack errors by the Royals. The win was the Cardinals' second straight over Queens, following a 3-0 decision on Friday.
Savitski-Lynde hit .438 to help lead Ball State to an impressive .373 attack percentage against the Royals. Savitski-Lynde had just two errors in 16 swings. Will Patterson helped the Ball State efficiency with six kills against no errors. And while the Cardinals were efficient on offense, Lucas Machado and Rodney Wallace were potent at the net – Machado recording six blocks and Wallace five.
The Cardinals (14-7) are idle for 11 days before meeting Ohio State in Columbus on Thursday, March 14.
