BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - It was a long three-match weekend for the Cardinals with Ball State dropping both matches today on the road at the Indiana Adidas Classic.
Ball State was coming off a 4-3-win late Friday evening against Youngstown State before traveling to Indiana University today. Ball State (2-5) dropped 4-0 decisions to Colorado (8-1) in the afternoon match and then to host Indiana (5-7) in this evening's competition.
Against Colorado, the doubles point went to the Buffalo's. Even though the match on the top court went unfinished, the Cardinals' duo of Elena Malykh and Ella Hazelbaker were knotted 3-3 versus Aya El Sayed and Pia Rebec.
Colorado went on to win at the No. 3, 5, and 6 singles positions to claim the victory but the Cardinals were able to win at least one or more games on each of their respective courts.
Ball State then wrapped up play with an evening match against host Indiana.
Unfortunately, BSU fell in doubles again, but it was a closer competition against the Hoosiers. Sydney Hrehor and Jacqueline Pearsall paired up at the No. 3 slot taking four games from IU's twosome of Sarah L'allier and Li Shin Lin. Sarah Shahbaz alongside Isabelle Tanjuantco also won four games against the Hoosiers' No. 2 duo of Lene Mari Honda and Baby Nihalani.
In singles, the Hoosiers won victories on courts two, three, and five in that order for the win today.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues non-conference play when it hosts Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Northwest YMCA. First serve is at 4 pm ET.
