Field Hockey Welcomes Longwood Friday in #MACtion

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team returns to Mid-American Conference action Friday at home against Longwood University. The contest is slated to begin at noon at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Racers have started the season off with a 3-5 overall record and a 1-2 start to conference play. The Longwood Lancers lead the all-time series record over the Cardinals, 9-5. The two teams first met on Oct. 18, 2009, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Longwood. Ball State defeated Longwood on Sept. 16, 2022, by a 3-2 decision at the Briner Sports Complex their last meeting in Muncie. Graduate senior Rachel Bohn scored a goal against Longwood in the victory.

Ball State enters the contest Friday with a 1-7 overall ledger while starting league play with a 0-2 mark. The Cardinals have had a strong defensive showing thus far this season with three of their games going into overtime.

After Friday, the Ball State field hockey team will play at Central Michigan on Oct. 11 at 3 pm ET and then head to Ann Arbor for a game against Big Ten foe Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 pm ET.
