Field Hockey Returns to the Road Friday for #MACtion Game Against App State; Plays at Queens Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team returns to the road Friday when it plays at Appalachian State at 6 pm ET. The Cardinals will then wrap up its two-game weekend in North Carolina when BSU travels to Queens on Sunday for an 11 a.m. ET contest.

The last time App State and Ball State met was last season in Muncie on Oct. 20. The Cardinals suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss for the second-straight season to the Mountaineers. Due to the recent hurricanes App State was unable to play on its home field until last Saturday when it hosted No. 1 North Carolina.

The Cardinals enter the contest with an overall ledger of 3-8 and a 2-2 Mid-American Conference mark while the Mountaineers are 7-6 for the year and 4-1 in league action. App States' lone MAC loss came against Miami on Oct. 11 by a score of 1-0. The last time Ball State defeated App State was on Oct. 8, 2021, at the Briner Sports Complex in overtime by a score of 1-0.

After Friday, Ball State will take on Queens, a team the Cardinals defeated last season by a 7-0 decision. The Royals are looking for their first win of the season with a current 0-11 mark. Returnees Paloma Gomez Rengifo tallied a goal last season against the Royals while her teammate Michaela Graney registered two goals that contest. This is only the second time in program history the two schools have met.

The Ball State field hockey team returns to the Briner Sports Complex next week when it hosts three contests which starts Tuesday against UC Davis. The game is slated to begin at noon.
