Field Hockey Travels to CMU Friday; Plays at No. 5 Michigan

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will play two games in the state of Michigan this weekend beginning with a Mid-American Conference showdown at Central Michigan on Friday at 3 pm ET. The Cardinals will then close the two-game weekend on Sunday against No. 5 Michigan in Ann Arbor at 1 pm ET.
The Cardinals enter this weekend's contests with a 2-7 overall record and a 1-2 league ledger while the Chippewas own a 3-8 overall mark. CMU is looking for their first MAC victory of the season after suffering losses to Longwood (1-2), James Madison (2-3), Appalachian State (3-4) and Bellarmine (3-4). The last time these two teams collided was on Ball State's home turf on Sept. 22, 2023, at the Briner Sports Complex when Ball State defeated Central Michigan by a score of 4-0. Graduate senior Rachel Bohn scored a goal for BSU that game. Ball State has won its last five meetings over the Chippewas.
After Friday's game, the Cardinals will take on its third top 25 team this season and Big Ten school when BSU travels to No. 5 Michigan. The Maize & Blue enter Sunday's game with an 8-1 record after pulling off a recent 1-0 win over then fourth ranked Ohio State on Sunday, Oct. 6. The Wolverines lead the all-time series against the Cardinals, 20-5.
After this weekend, Ball State field hockey team will continue its four-game road swing when it plays at Appalachian State Friday, October. 18 at 6 pm ET.
