Men’s Tennis Suffers 5-2 Setback at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team (3-1) wrapped up its two-match road week with a 5-2 loss at Dayton (1-1) Saturday evening at the South Regency Tennis Center.
Dayton would take the opening point of the match after winning on courts two and three in doubles play. Exiting the court first was Mason Tran and partner Parrish Simmons at the No. 2 position. The No. 2 doubles tandem fell 6-3 to Mikkel Zinder and Eric Perkowski. Drew Hayward and Eli Herran put up a good fight on court No. 3 but fell 6-4 to the Flyers duo of Matt Demarco and Ronnie Hiryur. Although the point was won Nathaniel Webster and Vince Orlando were knotted at 5-5 on the top court when play was stopped.
In singles, Dayton took four of the six courts from Ball State. Tran and Sajin Smith both earned wins for the Cardinals today. Tran took down Luis Saraiva in straight sets at the No. 3 slot, 7-5, 6-4 while Smith was victorious on court No. 5.
The Ball State men's tennis team will play Wednesday at Big Ten for Indiana. First serve is at 5 pm ET.
