High School: Smith will become the fourth member of his family to play for the Cardinals. His dad Bryan was the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 1998 and a member of the 1997 and 1998 MAC Championship teams. Smith's uncle Mike also helped Ball State to two MAC titles in 1985 and 1986. His cousin Zane is the most recent member of the family that has played for Richards and was a member of the 2011 MAC championship squad.
"We are thrilled to welcome Sajin into the Ball State tennis family," Richards said. "There is deep family tradition there and we appreciate Sajin's loyalty and commitment to Ball State."
Smith brings a top level of national experience to Ball State. He is currently ranked 87th in the nation as a senior, seventh in the midwest and second in the state of Indiana, according to Tennisrecruiting.net. As a four-star recruit, Smith has very strong credentials and should make an immediate impact on the team next season as the current Ball State men's tennis team has no seniors.
