Broc Fletcher Clinches Match at Xavier for Men’s Tennis

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Sophomore Broc Fletcher registered a three-set thriller (6-2, 1-6, 7-5) over Xavier's Christian Gonzalez Wednesday afternoon at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club to help move the Cardinals (3-0) past the Musketeers (0-4) by a score of 5-2.
Ball State continues with its strong doubles play as they took the first point of the match from Xavier after winning on courts No. 2 and No. 3.
Eli Herran and Drew Hayward blew past Xavier's No. 3 doubles tandem of Alex Adamec and Charlie Temming as the the Cardinals' duo only gave up one game winning the match, 6-1. BSU fell on the top court, but then regained control after the No. 2 twosome of Mason Tran and Parrish Simmons came through with the 6-4 win to secure the first point of the match for the Ball State.
In singles play, the Cardinals earned victories at the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 slots. Fletcher won his first frame against Ganzalez 6-2 but then dropped the second set 1-6. Fletcher prevailed in set three tallying a 7-5 decision to claim the victory for the Ball State.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action when it plays at Dayton on Saturday. First serve is at 4 pm ET.
