MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will look to extend its win streak when it opens Mid-American Conference action Friday at Ohio at 3 pm ET. The Cardinals will then welcome Saint Louis for their home opener Sunday at 1 pm ET at the Briner Sports Complex.Â
The Cardinals enter this weekend's play with an overall record of 1-4 while the Bobcats own a 2-2 ledger. The Billikens come to Muncie Sunday with a 1-4 record. Â
Both Ball State and Ohio are coming off victories with the Cardinals winning 2-1 in a sudden death shootout at Lock Haven, Sept. 10. Senior Rachel Bohn earned the game-winner for BSU. Â
Ohio is coming off a big win after defeating Big Ten foe Indiana in Athens, Ohio by a 3-2 overtime decision. Saint Louis is looking to get back on the winning track after falling 3-2 in OT to Colgate. Â
Last year, Ball State defeated both Ohio and Saint Louis. The 2-1 victory over the Bobcats happened on Oct. 7, 2022, after sophomore Fleur Knopert netted the game-winning goal at the 67:44 mark in overtime after aggressively attacking the circle. Â
Against SLU last season, senior Emma Hilton scored the game-winner off the assist from Knopert to give the Cardinals the 2-1 OT win in Saint Louis on Sept. 11, 2022. Â
Ball State has won four of the past six meetings against Ohio. The Bobcats lead the all-time series 25-8. Â
