Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season Road Play with Win at NIU

DEKALB, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team (11-9, 3-5 MAC) earned a 5-2 victory in Mid-American Conference action Sunday afternoon at Northern Illinois (12-9, 4-5 MAC) to complete the two series sweep over the Huskies this season.
The Cardinals fought their way back into the match after dropping the doubles point to the Huskies.
Broc Fletcher would be the first to exit the court after taking down Guy Dagan in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 6 slot. Nathaniel Webster gave BSU the 2-1 edge over NIU with his 6-3, 6-4 defeat versus the Huskies No. 1 singles player Cheng En Tsai.
NIU would take court two from Ball State, but Sajin Smith pushed the Cardinals advantage to 3-2 after beating Christopher Norlin on court No. 5, 6-2, 6-2.
With two courts remaining, Eli Herran and Danilo Kovacevic were both in three set thrillers. Herran finished first to give the Cardinals match point on court No. 4.
Kovacevic would round out the victories for the Cardinals todayat the No. 3 spot.
The Ball State men's tennis team will wrap up Mid-American Conference regular season action at home Friday against Binghamton and Sunday versus Buffalo. First serve for both matches will be at 1 pm ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
