T&F Finishes Day Two of Jesse Owens Classic
April 22, 2023 | Track & Field
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ball State track and field team wrapped up a weekend at the Jesse Owens Classic after going up against strong competition.
Â
"It's always good to have the opportunity to compete at Jesse Owens Invitation. The ladies showed resilience as they had to manage the weather and delays," said head coach Adrian Wheatley. "We have individuals who continually show improvement weekend and week out. As a program, we keep trending in the right direction as we prepare for the big show in a couple of weeks."
Â
Jenelle Rogers earned a huge personal best in the shot put, throwing 13.99m / 45-10.75, just shy of the 14-meter mark.
Â
Charity Griffith qualified for the finals of the 100m hurdles with her prelim time of 13.94. She placed sixth overall in the finals. Freshman Alana Springer also qualified for the finals in the 100m after running an 11.89. She ran the same time in the finals.
The 4x100m relay quartet of Moriah Johnson, Alana Springer, Lindley Steele, and Jenna Oriani placed third in their event.Â
Â
The Cardinals are set to compete next on April 28-29 at the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the Cardinals' last outdoor meet before heading to the MAC Outdoor Championships in Akron, Ohio on May 11-13.
