
Griffith Sets Program Record, Cardinals Finish Outdoor Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ball State track and field team completed their last regular season outdoor meet at the Outdoor Music City Challenge. Charity Griffith set a program record in the high jump and several Cardinals earned personal bests in their respective events.

Senior Charity Griffith set a program record in the high jump and won the event, clearing six feet, and jumping 1.85m / 6-0.75. The previous school record was shared by Griffith and Bonita Harrington. Harrington notched the 6-0.5 / 1.84m record in 1984, and Griffith tied it in 2022 only to break it again today.

The 4x100m relay quarter of Moriah Johnson, Alana Springer, Lindley Steele and Jenna Oriani won the event and ran a season best time of 45.41.

Allison Valladay ran a personal best in the 400m. Jenelle Rogers made her outdoor high jump debut, and Sarah Greer earned an open 800m collegiate best.

Lea-Marie Diedicke earned a personal best in the 400m hurdles and picked up a heat win, finishing in fourth place. Mary Porter also ran a personal best and picked up a heat win in the 400m hurdles.

Griffith picked up a heat win in the 100m hurdles prelims, qualifying for the finals. She finished in fifth overall in the 100m hurdles final.

Jenna Oriani qualified for the 100m finals after placing fifth in the prelims. She finished in fourth overall in the finals.

The Cardinals will head to Akron, Ohio next for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships on May 11-13.
