
Women's Tennis Takes 5-2 Match Over Eastern Michigan on Senior Day

MUNCIE, Ind. - It was an emotional day for the Ball State women's tennis team as the Cardinals celebrated their seven seniors in a SCORE win versus Eastern Michigan Friday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
Isabelle Behrman, Jessica Braun, Emily Desai, Amy Kaplan, Emma Peeler and Livia Lukacs were all members of two Mid-American Conference Tournament regular season titles, a MAC Tournament championship and two trips to the NCAA's. Allison Mulville joined as a transferred to BSU this season but has helped Ball State to an overall record of 19-3 and an 8-1 conference ledger.
Eastern Michigan (6-8, 3-6 MAC) fell behind early to the Cardinals after a tightly contested doubles point. Ball State took wins on courts No. 3 and No. 2, respectively to start the match off 1-0.
In singles, Elena Malykh dominated EMU's No. 6 player, Linda Eloundou as she only dropped one game winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Mariya Polishchuk topped Andrea Quiroz, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot to extend the Cardinals lead to 3-0 over the Eagles.
In true senior fashion, Peeler came through on court No. 3 beating Danielle Shved, 6-3, 7-5, to claim match point for the Cardinals.
Rounding out the victories for BSU was Annika Planinsek took her match at the No. 5 slot in straight sets.
The Ball State women's tennis team will close out its MAC regular season play when it travels to rival Miami Sunday for a 1 pm ET match in Hamilton, Ohio. The Cardinals have already locked up their spot in next week's 2023 MAC Tournament which will be held in Muncie, Ind. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center (indoors) or the Northwest YMCA (outdoors).
